Councilman Terrance Turnbach is a lifelong resident of Ocean County. He resides in Toms River with his wife Sara and their three children, Emma, Jack and Ella.
Terrance is a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, New Jersey. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Philosophy from Villanova University. Terrance earned his Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law, graduating in 2002.
Terrance is a partner in the law firm of Starkey, Kelly, Kenneally, Cunningham & Turnbach, located in downtown Toms River. He has been employed at Starkey, Kelly since 2003. Prior to entering the private practice of law, Terrance served as Law Clerk to the Honorable James N. Citta, J.S.C.
In 2008, Terrance was recognized as Young Lawyer of the Year by the Ocean County Bar Association. In 2018, the Ocean County Bar Association recognized him as Citizen of the Year.
In 2018-2019, Terrance proudly served as President of the Ocean County Bar Association. He has also been appointed and served on the District IIIA Ethics Committee for Ocean County.
Terrance is honored to be a Trustee of The Hope Center, a non-profit organization in Toms River that serves the needs of the less fortunate in our community.
Terrance is also proud to be a volunteer Coach for all of his children with the Toms River Futbol Club, serving in this role since 2016.
Terrance has served on the Toms River Township Council since 2018. During his time on the Council, he has worked with his fellow Township Council members to purchase the Red Carpet Inn, resulting in a significant reduction in crime in downtown Toms River. He has also worked with the Township Council to make changes in the Township’s Code Blue law to help those in need and to create the Township’s first property tax rebate program.
