Toms River Township Municipal Court is the 7th largest municipal court in the State of New Jersey. The mission of court is to efficiently and expeditiously adjudicate all cases filed within our jurisdiction while providing exemplary customer service. Our goal is to effectively, fairly and efficiently provide service to this community.

The Honorable James A. Liguori, Chief Judge and the Honorable Damian G. Murray preside over the Toms River Township Municipal Court. Court sessions are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. The court processed over 23,000 filings last year. This would include DWI cases and other traffic offenses as well as criminal cases including local ordinances.

The Toms River Municipal Court also provides Citizen Dispute Resolution Sessions wherein services are provided by trained volunteer mediators. Mediation sessions are held every Monday afternoon. Many citizen matters are successfully resolved without the necessity of a trial.

We are an independent branch of government constitutionally entrusted with the fair and just resolution of disputes in order to preserve the rule of law and to protect the rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and law of the United States and this State.
