Overview - Master Plan

A Master Plan is the long-term “vision” for the development of the community developed with community input and thorough analysis of existing and projected conditions.  The Master Plan provides policy direction for land uses, community facilities, circulation, and other needs.   In New Jersey, the Master Plan must be reexamined every 10 years.  A Master Plan must include a Land Use and Housing element by law but may include other elements that are important to the community.  The Toms River Township 2016-2017 Master Plan has numerous elements which were adopted by the Toms River Township Planning Board.  The Toms River Township Planning Board decided to adopt a few elements at a time, so the recommendations could be thoroughly reviewed.
