George Wittmann brings more than 36 years of engineering experience to township government, and is a licensed professional engineer and professional planner. He earned his Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Rutgers University, a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Farleigh Dickinson University. He is a New Jersey Licensed Professional Engineer, Licensed Professional Planner and holds an N-2 Industrial Wastewater Operators License.
George currently works for a global real estate company as Senior Vice President of Technical Operations and supports Pharmaceutical Companies in Facilities Engineering and Operations. He retired from Merck and Company in 2011 after spending almost 30 years with Schering Plough and Merck.
George has been a member of the Toms River Council since 2009. He served on the governing body from 1995-2000 and was Mayor and Deputy Mayor under the former Township Committee form of Government. He has served on numerous community boards such as the Toms River Board of Adjustment, the Toms River Planning Board, the Toms River Municipal Utilities Authority (former Chairman) and Green Island Homeowners Association (former Chairman of the Board).
He attained the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America, and is a former member of the Executive Board of the Jersey Shore Boy Scouts. George is an active member of the Toms River Yacht Club and in his spare time enjoys boating and fishing.
George is the council liaison to the Finance Committee, Capital Committee, Law and Public Safety Committee, Land Use and Development Committee and Administration Committee.
