Toms River participates in FEMA’s community rating system. Not only do our residents enjoy a discount on their flood insurance premiums, residents, with flood insurance, whose home was damaged by Superstorm Sandy, may be eligible for ICC (Increase Cost of Compliance) grant money to upgrade their home to FEMA compliance. This program allows for grants, up to $30,000.00 to raise homes, install flood vents and relocate mechanical equipment above the base flood elevation. To qualify, you must have sustained damage exceeding 50% of the value of the structure. For more information, please follow the link to the attached brochure.
If you feel you qualify and want to apply, please email or fax your FEMA proof of loss to our Township Engineer, Robert J. Chankalian, PE, CME at firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 732-341-0828. If you qualify, he will prepare an endorsement letter, that you can give to your flood insurance agent, who in turn will prepare your FEMA ICC Grant application.
