Extra Sanitation Collection Requests in Robo Can Areas PDF Print E-mail

Toms River Township only allows one extra collection per month, per residency. There are two types of extra pickups that can be scheduled - Metal and Extra Collections (non-metal). Items that can not be picked up curbside but must be brought to the Recycling Convenience Center include but are not limited to tires (off rim), paints, electronic equipment (computers, monitors, TV's, microwaves, etc.), empty propane tanks, motor oil, and batteries. Remember, we do not pickup move outs or an excessive volume. If you have a large amount of debris, please contact a private removal service

The Township will not provide curbside pick up of construction/demolition debris. Residents will be permitted to bring not more than two 35-gallon containers of construction/demolition debris to the Recycling Convenience Center two times per month. This debris must be placed in containers so that the quantity of material can be readily identified by the yard attendants. If such debris is not containerized, it will not be accepted. Should you have larger quantities of construction/demolition debris to dispose of, it must be brought to an approved landfill such as the Ocean County Landfill on State Highway 70 in Manchester Township by the resident, contractor, or licensed trash hauling company.

To request a pickup, call 732-255-1000 ext. 8604 and following the instructions. Leave your address and a brief description of the items you need to dispose.

Definitions & Schedules:

Metal:

Definition: Items made primarily of metal. Examples: Washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, wrought iron railings, grills, bathtubs, exercise equipment, metal poles, folding chairs, hot water heaters, metal tanks, etc. Newer dishwashers that are made of plastic are picked up as non-metal/extra collection. Due to a Federal law, Freon must be removed from air conditioners, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, etc. The appliance must have a sticker attached by a licensed service company. Empty propane tanks must be brought into the Recycling Convenience Center.

Metal pickup schedule: Put items to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the Monday following your request. Items will be picked up during that week (not just on Monday but sometime between Monday and Friday of that week). One list is compiled for each week.

Extra Collections (non-metal):

Definition: This is for pickups that are not primarily metal and do not fit into the Robo can. (If you live in an area of town that does not have the Robo cans, you can just put items out for your regular weekly collection; you do not need an extra collection.) Examples are furniture, carpet, mattresses, etc. Remember those items such as carpet, lumber and other long items must be cut into four-foot sections tied/bundled in some manner and weigh no more than 50 lbs. Furniture does not have to be cut up.

Extra collection pickup schedule:

Put items out to the curb y 7:00 a.m. on the day following your normal weekly collection. A list is compiled for each day. However, if an item is extremely heavy such as pool tables, sofa beds, pianos & organs, sliding glass doors, a lift truck is required. (Most furniture does not need a lift truck.) Put these items to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the Thursday following your request. A special list is compiled for pickup on Thursdays.
