Extra Sanitation Collection Requests in Robo Can Areas |
|
|
|
|
Toms River Township has two types of extra pickups that can be scheduled - Metal and Extra Collections (non-metal). Items that can not be picked up curbside but must be brought to the Recycling Convenience Center include but are not limited to tires (off rim), paints, electronic equipment (computers, monitors, TV's, microwaves, etc.), empty propane tanks, motor oil, and batteries. Remember, we do not pickup move outs or an excessive volume. If you have a large amount of debris, please contact a private removal service.
Beginning Monday, May 4, 2009, the Township will not provide curbside pick up of construction/demolition debris.
Residents will be permitted to bring not more than two 35-gallon containers of construction/demolition debris to
the Recycling Convenience Center per week. This debris must be placed in containers so that the quantity of
material can be readily identified by the yard attendants. If such debris is not containerized, it will not be
accepted. Should you have larger quantities of construction/demolition debris to dispose of, it must be brought
to an approved landfill such as the Ocean County Landfill on
State Highway 70 in Manchester Township by the resident, contractor, or licensed trash hauling company.
To request a pickup, call 732-255-1000 ext. 8604 and following the instructions. Leave your address and a brief description of the items you need to dispose.

Why Recycle: The New Jersey Statewide Solid Waste Management Act mandates that each municipality provide for the removal of recyclables from the solid waste stream in order to:
Reduce the volume of solid waste in landfills.
Conserve vital, natural resources.
Save energy and landfill costs.
Help keep Toms River Township clean.
Furthermore, materials designated as recyclable must be separated from waste at the point of origin or generation and not at the point of disposal. This mandate applies to commercial, institutional and residential sectors.

Leaf collections start in April and again in late October. Please follow these simple rules:
LEAVES IN PLASTIC BAGS, preferably clear bags, will be collected from curbside.
Do not secure or tie the top of the bag. Untied bags can be emptied more quickly.
All your bagged leaves must be at curbside on Monday before 7:00 a.m. of your designated week. The truck will pick up only once sometime that week.
After the second collection period for your area, bagged or loose leaves must be brought to the Recycling Center (located on Church Road, East of No. Bay Avenue), between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
We encourage backyard leaf composting and the use of mulching lawn mowers.

|
|

The Parks and Recreation Department conducts a Christmas tree recycling program each January. Bey Lea Park (Tennis Court and Parking Lot)
Chadwick Beach Park (Strickland Blvd.)

Our telephone answering system now includes a touch-tone directory that forwards your call directly to the person who can best assist you. The system is a 24-hour-a-day message center.
During peak hours, your call may be answered by automated voice mail. This feature enables you to leave a brief message, rather than calling back. Calls for metal or extra pickups in a Robo can collection area may not receive a call back due to the volume of calls received. Our goal is to return all other calls by the end of the workday.
