The Township has received notice for plans to close Old Freehold Road on Monday, October 22, 2018, to complete the area of Stage 2 boxout as quickly as possible. There is already an approved detour plan, which will take traffic around Walnut to Old Freehold, and will be utilized during this construction period. The anticipated closure time will be completed no later than Wednesday afternoon. We thank you for your patience as this work is completed.

Following a long stretch of bad weather, dredging operations have resumed in Ortley and have begun in the North Beaches. The latest estimates from the ACoE is that Ortley will be complete around this December and the North Beaches will be complete around early February. These dates are always subject to weather and mechanical breakdowns.

We have also been advised that dune plantings will begin in Ortley in late January and that all plantings will be complete by this spring.

The Toms River Township Department of Public Works will be closed on Columbus Day, Monday, October 8, 2018.  There will be no sanitation and recycling collections and the Recycling Convenience Center will be closed.

All collections are postponed one day, with Friday’s sanitation collections picked up on Saturday.  For additional information, please refer to our website at
