The Toms River Township Senior Center hosted the 2017 Head Start Christmas Party on Friday, December 15th. More than 50 preschoolers enrolled in the Toms River Head Start program for low-income families joined Senior Center members for a holiday celebration that included lunch, games, activities, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Toms River High School peer leaders volunteered as Santa’s helpers to distribute gifts and coordinate games.
Senior Center members donated unwrapped gifts for each child and baked cookies and other treats for this annual intergenerational celebration. Days before the party, senior volunteers gathered to organize and wrap the donated gifts.
The popular event is co-sponsored by the Toms River Senior Center and Municipal Alliance with funding from the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
